THE AGENCY APPROACH

vs CONTRACTING WITH MARSH

RISK – AND NO REWARD

You've been driven down to a lower rate, with the promise of a long-term contract deemed outside IR35 – a week later the client's assessment comes back inside and the project's finishing earlier than expected.

Now you're out of work, chasing your next role, and the agency won't answer your calls.

WHAT'S DIFFERENT

We know the people, projects, and rates you should be seeing.

You'll have clarity on the IR35 position, project length and pay when we call.

And we'll be talking to you about what's coming next well before this contract ends.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
YOUR NEXT CONTRACT, STEP BY STEP

STEP 1

ONBOARDING

Discipline, experience level, day-rate expectations, availability and where you're willing to work.

We'll tell you what's in the market right now – which frameworks are live, what rates look like and the IR35 position on each – before you commit.

STEP 2

ALIGNMENT

We'll only share assignments that match your experience, working preferences – and where the rate is right.

Many of our contracts are never advertised, but you'll hear from us first when something interesting comes up.

STEP 3

COMPLIANCE

We handle the compliance side – right to represent, contract terms, right to work and insurance. Nothing unnecessary, nothing sprung on you at short notice.

We'll take you through IR35 status, limited company or umbrella and your effective rate after deductions before you commit.

STEP 4

ON ASSIGNMENT

We check in regularly – throughout the contract and beyond.

If anything changes on site, with the rate or with the IR35 position, you've got someone to call.

STEP 5

AND THE NEXT ONE

We start talking about what's next well before your end date, so a finished project doesn't mean weeks of chasing.

MEET CHRIS

I spent the early part of my career at EDF before moving into recruitment.

From the inside, I often found recruiters who didn't know their stuff. I was misrepresented, put forward for roles that were never going to work, and saw little care for the process or the people involved.

That experience still shapes how I work today. I know how it feels from the candidate's side, which is why I focus on quality, consistency and transparency.

At Marsh RPF, I look after all things delivery – building direct relationships with the candidates and contractors we represent, and making sure things are done properly at every step.

WHAT OUR CONTRACTORS SAY

Kept me up to date from the first enquiry right through to signing contracts, and delivered exactly what he said he would. Can't recommend enough.

Mike H., Contractor

The process from interview, contract signing and commencing my new role was professionally managed and there was good support when required.

Sanjay C., Placed candidate

They found me a great company to work for, gave me lots of advice throughout the interviewing process and smoothed out a few issues that arose along the way too.

See what salary matches your day rate after tax, and what your take-home looks like inside or outside IR35, through your own company, an umbrella or agency PAYE.

*Built on 2026/27 tax rates.

  • The salary match counts pension and bonus – so you compare like with like before going permanent

  • Take-home on each route – so you know what rate to ask for if a role moves inside IR35

  • Scottish tax rates built in – so the figures hold wherever you live
