A global, employee-owned engineering consultancy is building out its UK power team across the whole connection rather than a single discipline. Owner's engineer and consultancy work, not contractor delivery, with the seat shaped around where your depth sits.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You'll lead design packages from concept through detailed design, owning the client brief and technical requirements, running design reviews, and coordinating multi-disciplinary work across electrical, civil and structural.
Which discipline sits at the centre depends on where your depth is. That could be substations and primary plant at 132kV and above, HV cables, overhead lines, protection and control, or power system studies in DIgSILENT, IPSA or ETAP.
The work spans UK transmission and distribution, renewable and storage grid connections, data centres and other critical infrastructure, with technical assurance provided to owners, developers and network operators.
The UK power team is deliberately small and growing, with a 600-strong power practice in the US behind it, so there's scope to shape how it runs and a clear route to Principal or Associate Director.
ABOUT YOU
- You've built real depth in one HV discipline but want to widen rather than narrow
- You want the technical relationship with the client, not a contractor's delivery programme
- You're comfortable shaping how a growing team works, rather than joining a finished one
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Eight years or more in HV power design, with real depth in at least one discipline
- Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, and chartered (CEng) or on a clear pathway
- A track record leading design packages through concept and detailed design
- Comfortable owning the technical relationship with clients and contributing to bids
- Working knowledge of IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards and UK network operator specifications
- For studies-weighted candidates, hands-on DIgSILENT PowerFactory, IPSA or ETAP
