One of the UK's largest independent network operators is hiring a Senior Design Engineer to hold the design authority on the networks it adopts.
You'll assure ICP and developer designs up to 132kV and produce the business's own designs, home-based or hybrid, with transmission-connected schemes already live.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You'll carry out design assurance on new networks submitted by developers and ICPs, reviewing primary system and network design packages covering electrical, protection and civils up to 132kV.
You'll create the business's own network designs and points of connection, across primary substations, EHV and HV cables and overhead lines, for BESS, solar, EV, industrial and hyperscale data centre connections.
You'll hold the design requirements from award through to adoption, approve as-built submissions, and work with the build assurance team where construction has changed an approved design.
You'll build working relationships with DNO planning and design teams, and support land rights for adoptable assets alongside ICPs, developers and DNOs.
ABOUT YOU
- You design HV and EHV networks for an ICP or consultancy and want to be the one approving them
- You already approve designs at a DNO or IDNO and want more variety and a shorter decision chain
- You're comfortable explaining a rejection to a developer and keeping the relationship intact
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Five years or more in electricity distribution engineering
- Network design experience up to 132kV, ideally including primary substations
- The ability to review, interpret and approve designs produced by someone else
- Practical knowledge of how distribution networks are built and operated
- Degree, HNC or HND in engineering, or equivalent
