An owner-operator of high voltage networks across T&D and private wire (11kV-400kV) is hiring an Engineering Director to lead engineering across the group, reporting to the Managing Director.
It's a role for someone who wants to shape a function as the business grows, not inherit a finished one.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You'll own engineering standards and technical governance across LV, HV and EHV networks, setting what good looks like from design through construction to energisation.
You'll lead the design function and quality team, and build out engineering assurance as the business grows, with a clear path to the executive team.
You'll be the technical voice with DNOs, NESO and delivery partners, and take engineering into transmission and new services as the group expands.
ABOUT YOU
- You've led engineering or design teams and set the standards they work to, not just followed them
- You're ready for a director seat and want room to grow into it, and you're comfortable when the path isn't fully mapped
- You can hold a technical argument with a regulator or network operator and keep the relationship
- 132kV experience is enough - you'll want to take on 275kV and 400kV as the group grows into them
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Substantial UK electricity network engineering experience, with deep EHV knowledge from 33kV to 132kV
- Accountability for engineering standards, design governance or assurance across a business or programme
- Experience leading engineering or design teams
- Working knowledge of network design approval, adoption and Ofgem requirements
- Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, and CEng or working towards it
