A global, employee-owned engineering consultancy is hiring an Associate Director for its UK power and HV engineering practice.
Reporting to the Technical Director, you'll carry technical and commercial responsibility and help grow a multi-discipline team across substations, cables, overhead lines, protection and power system studies.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Reporting to the Technical Director, you'll help grow the UK power practice, leading bids and proposals and handling fee and resource planning.
You'll hold the senior client relationships with transmission owners, network operators, developers and data centre clients, on owner's engineer and consultancy work rather than contractor delivery.
You'll recruit and develop engineers across substations and primary plant, HV cables, OHL, P&C, and grid connections – and share responsibility for the technical standard the practice is judged on.
The practice is employee-owned and early in its growth, with a 600-strong power team in the US to draw technical depth and delivery capacity from.
ABOUT YOU
- You're already at Associate or Associate Director level in a consultancy, and the practice above you is large and settled
- You're a senior engineering leader at a contractor or transmission owner and want the commercial side of the job as well as the technical
- You want to help build a practice rather than inherit one
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- A senior record in UK power consultancy or owner's engineering, with profit and loss or practice growth you have personally carried
- Deep technical grounding in at least one HV discipline, and the credibility to hold the others
- Chartered engineer, and a recognised name with transmission owners, DNOs or developers
- A track record of winning work: bids, proposals and framework positions
- Experience building and developing multi-discipline engineering teams
- UK right to work
