A Power T&D EPC contractor delivering on the major UK transmission and distribution frameworks is hiring a UGC Engineering Manager to lead its underground cable engineering function.
You'll hold engineering authority across 33kV to 400kV cable schemes and lead the largest of its three engineering teams.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You'll hold engineering authority and sign-off across underground cable schemes from 33kV to 400kV, covering trench, duct bank, joint bay and trenchless design.
The function is route and civils-led, but cable system engineers are welcome too – you'll set the design standards, quality and technical approach across the portfolio.
You'll line-manage the senior and intermediate engineers, front client technical governance, and support the technical side of bids and PQQs.
There's a growing framework pipeline behind the team, through RIIO-T3, ASTI and the Great Grid Upgrade, and scope to build and own the layer beneath you.
ABOUT YOU
- You come from route and civils design on cable schemes, or from cable system engineering, and want to lead the whole function
- You want engineering authority across a growing framework pipeline, not a single project
- You're comfortable as the senior technical voice with clients
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Senior underground cable engineering experience on transmission or distribution schemes, ideally up to 400kV
- Design depth in trench, duct bank, joint bay or trenchless crossings, or in cable system design
- Experience leading and developing a team of engineers
- Comfortable fronting client technical governance and supporting bids and PQQs
